Tour around Ibiza Island

In the area of Ibiza town, we have as points of cultural interest the old part of the town, called Dalt Vila, World Heritage Site, and the cathedral.

We can go for a stroll and see the cathedral and the views, or for the more curious, we can visit the Archaeological Museum (If we are on schedule).

Close to Dalt Vila we also have a museum of the Carthaginian Necropolis, considered the most important of the western Mediterranean.

It is one of the most important research points of Phoenician-Punic culture in the whole world.

Heading southwest, we have the Ses Salines Natural Park, a protected natural area which is home to almost all the ecosystems found on the island.

Following the route through the southwest area of the island, we head to the area of Sa Caleta, where in addition to the beautiful beach we can visit the first Phoenician village and the oldest urban settlement.

After this visit, we will proceed to the town of Es Cubells, location of one of the most typical Ibicencan churches.

Very close to Es Cubells we have Cala D´hort, also a nature reserve, with one of the best views of the majestic and mysterious island of Es Vedrá.

All these visits will take us about four or five hours, so at this point, you will be returned to the starting point or if you wish to continue, we would suggest stopping for lunch or dinner in a good typical Ibicencan restaurant, or if it is close to sunset, we would recommend stopping at a nearby beach like Cala d´Hort, Cala Tarida or Cala Conta, or even stopping at another curious site, the “Ibicencan Stonehenge”, a monument of the creator of the Cirque du Soleil, with a beautiful views of Es Vedrá.

Heading to the western part of the island, we will take you to the highlight of which is a cliff near Santa Agnes De Corona, known as “Puertas Del Cielo”, literally the gates of heaven.

The viewpoint offers an expansive panoramic of the north coast, with the island of Ses Margalides in front of us.

From Santa Inés we head to Sant Mateu D´Albarca, this area is home to the oldest winery of the island, wich can be visited to taste its typical Ibicencan wines as well to enjoy the landscape of this vineyards so well cared.

From San Mateo we can visit the village of Sant Miquel de Balançat and contemplate the beauty of the sea views from de church.

Every Thursday during the summer months, we can enjoy the interesting artisan market from 6 p.m. in the village of Sant Miquel de Balançat. In addition, between 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. the church square is the scene of demonstrations of folkloric dance performed by the Colla de Balançat.

The road leading from the port of San Miguel to the cove of Benirrás offers spectacular views, and we can also stop to visit the Cave of Can Marça.

After visiting the cave if you have chosen to, we can continue the tour to contemplate Benirrás Beach, famous for its sunsets and the hippy drumming parties with tribal rhythms that are held every Sunday.

At this point of the tour, depending on the time we have available, we can proceed to return to return point, or we can stop briefly in the village of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, the geographical heart of the island, surrounded by typical Ibicencan and Spanish products or we can go to a good typical Ibicencan restaurant.

In the eastern part of the island we find the town of Santa Eulalia del Rio, its name comes from the church Puig de Missa, offering stunning views of the whole town.

It also has the only river in the Balearic Islands, the headwaters of which are near the most mountainous area of the island close to Sant Mateu D´Albarca.

Near the town of Santa Eulalia, we have two of the most famous and important hippie markets on the island, which we can stop to visit if you wish.

The hippie market of Las Dalias is located in San Carlos and takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays from June thought to September, starting at 7 p.m., at 10 a.m. on Saturdays.

The market of Es Cana, in Punta Arabí, is considered the oldest on the island, it is open on Wednesday mornings.

Both markets have live music and organise workshops for children.

We will continue touring the northeast coast of the island and some of its beaches such as Pou d´es Lleó, with spectacular views of the island of Tagomago.

Another beach of breath-taking colours that can be visited is Aigües Blanques, is of fine and soft golden sand, with a few rocks protruding from its crystal-clear waters. It’s an official nudist beach.

Continuing along the north coast, we can stop in Portinatx, an area of quiet family beaches.

Another beautiful cove in the north of the island worth visiting is Cala Xarraca, a small, secluded and quiet cove, with fishermen´s huts.

Following all these visits around the island, which will take about four hours, depending on the time it is, we can stop and savour some typical Ibicencan cuisine in a good restaurant before continuing the tour, or we can return to the departure point or wherever you wish.
